If you spend five minutes with the current massage therapy students at Globe University-Eau Claire you will be inspired. This is a group of caring and selfless individuals. They are constantly looking for ways to give back to the community and share the gift of massage.
Recently, the students provided free massages to women 
veterans as part of the annual Women Veterans Retreat event. This annual event helps provide resources and camaraderie to women veterans in Wisconsin. It was held at the Trinity Equestrian Center, right here in Eau Claire.
The students were eager to help the veterans in need of relaxation and stress reduction. According to Jeaneen Roberts, Massage Therapy Program Chair, massage therapy can help those suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD).
“Working and meeting these wonderful women helped reiterate my goal as a massage student and future massage therapist. It was a humbling, rewarding and emotional experience. I am excited to be a part of this wonderful event next year!” Carla Cooper, a massage therapy student, said.
The massage therapy students are a very active group. They donate their time and skills for both on and off campus events. These types of events are great for the students to refine their skills. The massage program likes to give back to the community that helps support them.
“As future massage therapists, these events are great opportunities for the students. It allows them to work with such a wide range of people while they are learning. It is my goal to help the students learn through different experiences outside the classroom,” Jeaneen Roberts said.
This is the first year that Globe University has volunteered for the event. There are plans for the campus to partner with the Globe University-Madison campus for next year. The hope is to grow the event and increase both awareness and participation.
